Umbria has produced wines for over 3000 years and is now becoming internationally regarded for it’s unique grape varieties and terroir. It is where you’ll find some of the most amazing, delightfully undervalued Italian wines – from the crisp, dry white wines of Grechetto and Trebbiano Spoletino to the deep colored, antioxidant-rich reds of Sangiovese and Sagrantino. Umbria can cater for all palettes. The Lake House is a great base for wine touring and here is a list of boutique producers in the Lake Trasimeno area where the focus is on small batch, quality production and respect for the environment.
